Frequently Asked Questions
How is running pace calculated?
Pace is total time divided by distance. Running 10 km in 50 minutes gives 300 seconds per kilometre, written as 5:00 min/km. Speed is the inverse view of the same performance.
Are the race predictions realistic?
They assume you hold exactly the same pace over the longer distance, which works well for 5K to 10K estimates. Marathon predictions from short races are optimistic because fatigue slows most runners late in the race.
What is a good 5K time?
Beginners often run 30 to 40 minutes, intermediate runners 22 to 30 minutes, and competitive club runners under 20 minutes. Any consistent improvement on your own previous times is what matters.
Is the Pace Calculator free, and is my data private?
Yes. It is completely free and every calculation runs locally in your browser, so the numbers and dates you enter are never uploaded, stored, or shared with anyone.
