Frequently Asked Questions
What is the cron format?
Standard cron has five fields: minute, hour, day of month, month, and day of week. An asterisk means "every", */5 means "every 5", and commas list specific values.
Is day of week 0 or 7 for Sunday?
Both 0 and 7 mean Sunday in most implementations; this tool uses 0–6 with 0 as Sunday, matching Linux crontab.
If I set both day of month and day of week, what happens?
In standard cron the job runs when EITHER field matches, which surprises many people. Leave one of them as "every" unless you intend the union behaviour.
Where do I use the expression?
Paste it into crontab -e on Linux, CI schedules like GitHub Actions, or any scheduler library such as node-cron or Quartz (Quartz adds a seconds field).
