Frequently Asked Questions

What is an anagram?

An anagram uses every letter of one word or phrase exactly once to form another, like "listen" and "silent", or "astronomer" and "moon starer".

Do spaces and capitals matter?

No. The checker ignores spaces, punctuation and case, and compares only the letter counts of both inputs.

What does the difference table show?

For every letter it shows how many times it appears in each text. Any row that differs is highlighted, so you can see exactly why two phrases are not anagrams.

Can it find anagrams for me?

This tool verifies a pair you already have in mind. Finding all anagrams of a word requires a dictionary lookup, which this checker does not do.
