About Rush Hour Unblock
Rush Hour Unblock is the classic sliding-block traffic puzzle. On a 6×6 lot, cars (2 squares) and trucks (3 squares) can only slide forwards and backwards in their own lanes, and your red car is boxed in somewhere in the middle row. By shuffling the other vehicles around — each one you move unblocks the next — you open a lane to the green exit on the right and drive the red car out. Eight levels climb from a two-move warm-up to Total Gridlock, an eight-move chain where seven vehicles must move in exactly the right order.
These levels carry an unusual guarantee: each one was verified by a breadth-first search over every reachable position of its vehicles, which proves the level is solvable and makes the displayed par the true mathematical minimum number of slides. Controls are built for the puzzle: drag vehicles directly along their lanes, or select one and use the slide buttons to send it to the end of its lane in a single move — and since one slide counts as one move however far it travels, efficient play is about choosing the right order, not the fewest pixels. Undo and reset are always available.
How to Play Rush Hour Unblock
The red car must reach the green exit slot on the right edge of the middle row.
Vehicles only slide along their own direction — horizontal vehicles move left/right, vertical ones move up/down; they never turn.
Drag a vehicle with the mouse or a finger to slide it, or click to select it and use the Slide buttons below the board.
Clicking an empty square in the selected vehicle's lane slides it as far as possible toward that square.
Each slide counts as one move. Free the red car to complete the level — match par for a perfect score.

- 💡Reason backwards from the exit: which vehicle blocks the red car, what blocks that vehicle, and what blocks that one? Solve the chain in that order.
- 💡Trucks (3 squares) are the real obstacles — they usually need a small car moved out of their escape path before they can shift at all.
- 💡If you have moved the same vehicle three or more times, stop and rethink; the verified pars (2 to 8 moves) show how short the intended solutions are.
- 💡Use Undo liberally to test a hypothesis — one wrong slide rarely wrecks a level, and exploring is how the chain reveals itself.

How do I know every level can actually be solved?+
Each level was tested with a breadth-first search that explores every reachable arrangement of its vehicles until the red car escapes. The search also produces par — the exact minimum number of slides — which is what the game shows you.
What counts as one move?+
One slide of one vehicle, over any distance, counts as one move — sliding a car four squares costs the same as sliding it one. The Slide buttons exploit this by sending a vehicle to the end of its lane in a single move.
Can vehicles turn or move sideways?+
No. Horizontal vehicles only move left and right, vertical vehicles only up and down, exactly like the physical Rush Hour game. That constraint is what makes the puzzles interesting.
How many levels are there?+
Eight, rising from a 2-move Warm-Up to Total Gridlock at a minimum of 8 moves. Completed levels are marked with a ✓ and you can replay any level to chase its par.
