About Breakout 3D
Breakout is one of the founding arcade games โ a paddle, a ball and a wall of bricks โ and this version rebuilds the court in real 3D: a tilted arena where the glowing ball trails light as it flies, the bricks are chunky shaded blocks with real depth, and the whole wall of 54 bricks sits in six coloured rows of nine. The 3D presentation is not just decoration โ the tilt makes the ball's angle readable in a way flat versions are not, and the trail makes its speed and direction unmissable at a glance.
The wall is a small economy. Rows pay for their height: the bricks fall in value from 60 points for the top row down through 50, 40, 30 and 20 to 10 for the bottom row, so the bricks your ball meets first are deliberately the cheapest. The top two rows are also armoured, taking two hits each โ the first hit visibly changes the brick rather than destroying it โ which means the richest part of the wall is protected behind both distance and durability. Clearing all 54 bricks banks a +100 level bonus and starts a fresh wall with a faster ball; you have three balls to spend across the whole campaign.
As in every good Breakout, the paddle is really an aiming device. The rebound angle is set by where the ball strikes the paddle โ dead centre sends it straight back, the very edge fires it off at a sharp sideways angle โ so skilled play is about choosing targets, carving tunnels up the sides of the wall and letting the ball rattle around behind the top rows where the points are.
How to Play Breakout 3D
Press Start Game, then click or press Space to serve the ball from your paddle into the wall of 54 bricks.
Move the paddle with the mouse, by dragging on touch, or with the Left/Right arrow keys (or A/D). The ball bounces around the court and must never pass behind your paddle.
Where the ball hits the paddle decides its return angle: centre hits rebound steeply, edge hits fly off at sharp angles. Aim your returns at the parts of the wall you want to attack.
Bricks pay by row โ 60 points at the top down to 10 at the bottom โ and the top two rows need two hits each, changing shade after the first. The ball gently speeds up as bricks fall.
Clear all 54 bricks to bank a +100 level bonus and advance: the wall rebuilds and the next level's ball is faster.
Let the ball past your paddle and you lose one of your three balls. Lose the third and the game ends with your score and level reached.

Tips & Tricks
- ๐กUse the paddle's edges. A ball struck at the very edge leaves at a shallow angle that can slip up the side of the wall and trap the ball behind the top rows, where it destroys high-value bricks on its own.
- ๐กFinish what the first hit started. A two-hit brick that has taken its first hit is halfway to the richest points on the wall โ returning the ball to that column is worth more than opening a fresh cheap brick.
- ๐กServe calmly. Before clicking to serve, position the paddle where you want the first rally to start; a rushed serve puts the ball on a bad line from its first bounce.
- ๐กExpect the speed. The ball gains pace as the wall thins and levels climb โ stay in motion and play from the paddle's centre of the court rather than camping at one wall.
Breakout 3D โ Frequently Asked Questions
How are the bricks scored?+
By row, top to bottom: 60, 50, 40, 30, 20 and 10 points. The two top rows (the 60- and 50-point bricks) each take two hits to destroy; the four lower rows break in one. Clearing a whole level adds a +100 bonus before the next, faster wall appears.
How many balls do I get?+
Three for the whole game, not per level. Balls lost carry across levels, so a sloppy first level follows you โ the ball counter in the HUD shows exactly where you stand.
How do I control the ball's angle?+
By contact position on the paddle. The further from the paddle's centre the ball strikes, the sharper its rebound angle across the court. It is the same principle as the original arcade game: the paddle is an aiming tool, not just a safety net.
Can I play Breakout 3D on mobile or fullscreen?+
Yes โ drag to move the paddle, tap to serve, or hold the on-screen arrow buttons, and the fullscreen button on the game frame expands the court to fill your display.
